Over the last 12 months we have been busy updating and enhancing our wonderful library.

Thanks to your fantastic support we have been able to purchase hundreds of new books and some fabulous, bright, modern furniture.

Special thanks to Mrs Thomas who recently painted the beautiful tree you can see on the photographs and Mrs Hampstead and Mrs Clayburn who help out in the library every Thursday.

World Book Day is on March 7th.  All children may come to school dressed as a book character.  There will also be a special lunch - please see the menu below.

The game 'Momo', which has children 'communicating' with a scraggly-haired woman with gaunt face and eyes popping from her head through WhatsApp and other forms of communicationincluding you tube videos of Peppa Pig, Minecraft, Roblox and many others.

This 'girl' then tells the user to harm themselves or they will be "cursed". The children are also sent disturbing images by 'Momo'. Momo tells children not to tell parents.

I have had a look myself and found Momo to be an extremely disturbing image which will undoubtebly frighten children.

Please ensure parenting software is installed on your devices that allows the monitoring of apps that are installed.

The parent that I have spoken to today has stopped her child watching you tube completely to keep them safe.

We are delighted to be supporting the NSPCC by taking part in their Number Day . 
On 22nd February we will be taking part in ‘Dress up for Digits’ and pupils will be invited to wear an item of clothing with a number on it (football shirt, cap, homemade t-shirt or even a onesie!). We ask for children to make a donation to help raise money for the NSPCC. 

Number Day gives the children the opportunity to see that maths is fun and bring about a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude towards it. 

The NSPCC believes that all children deserve a childhood free from harm but, sadly, that’s not the case for many children. That’s why the NSPCC is fighting for every childhood and working to help keep children safe from abuse. 
The NSPCC needs our support. By raising money, we can help to fund their vital services such as Childline – the helpline that’s always there for children and young people whatever their problem or concern. 

We’re looking forward to all the fun of Number Day, and we really appreciate your support. 

Dear parents and carers,

 

Please can you make sure that the snacks that are sent in for playtime are healthy.  Over this week alone, children have brought pizza, muffins, crisps, chocolate and cake.  Children are also taking things out of their lunchboxes which is leaving them short at lunchtime.

We recommend as all schools do to send a healthy, nut free snack, ideally a piece of fruit, vegetables or berries.

Reception and Key Stage One children are already provided with a free healthy snack as part of the 'Five a Day' initiative that started back in 2004.

Every Friday, Flitwick Village Hall is open to the community for tea & coffee, whilst the market is trading.  The PTA have been invited to run a cake stall in order to raise funds for Kingsmoor.  If you are able to donate some cake or similar sweet treats please can you drop them off at school on Thursday 28th February.  Everyone is welcome at the coffee morning so please spread the word and we look forward to seeing you there!

 

Our Sport for Champions event takes place this Thursday. Please return all sponsorship forms and money to school by tomorrow at the latest. If you need another form, please ask at the office. Thank you

Art Adventurers are running their popular after school workshop after the Feb half term hols at Kingsmoor Lower school. Artists will be making a ‘Ship Wreck’ model over the 5 weeks. They will be making an octopus, treasure chest and much more. Sessions run on a Monday from 3:30-5:00 and is available to children from reception to year 4. Workshop starts on 25^th February and costs £30 per child. The letter should be in school bags so please return the slip to the school ASAP to securer your artists space.
