French

FRENCH

Intent:

In Key Stage 2, children will be able to speak and recognise basic words and phrases in French related to familiar and routine words and phrases we speak in English, in preparation for further study as the core language at Middle and Upper School.   We aim that all pupils will develop a genuine interest and positive curiosity about foreign languages, finding them enjoyable and stimulating.

Implementation:

At Kingsmoor, French is taught by the class teacher in Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) once a week for 30 minutes.  All classes will have access to a very high-quality foreign languages curriculum using the Twinkl scheme of work and resources.

We teach the Languages National Curriculum:

Impact:

Teachers assess French throughout lessons using 'assessment through learning'.  This helps teachers plan for future lessons.
