SERIOUS DANGER OF HARM TO YOUR CHILD
Mon 25 Feb 2019Dear parents and carers,It has been brought to my attention today about a dangerous viral game which is being spread through the internet. The game 'Momo', which has children 'communicating' with a scraggly-haired woman with gaunt face and eyes popping from her head through WhatsApp and other forms of communicationincluding you tube videos of Peppa Pig, Minecraft, Roblox and many others.
This 'girl' then tells the user to harm themselves or they will be "cursed". The children are also sent disturbing images by 'Momo'. Momo tells children not to tell parents.
Please follow the links below to find out more:
https://www.buzz.ie/news/parents-warned-viral-suicide-game-momo-thats-targeting-irish-kids-318003
I have had a look myself and found Momo to be an extremely disturbing image which will undoubtebly frighten children.
Please ensure parenting software is installed on your devices that allows the monitoring of apps that are installed.
The parent that I have spoken to today has stopped her child watching you tube completely to keep them safe.
Very best wishes,
Mrs Jenkins

Number Day
Fri 22 Feb 2019We are delighted to be supporting the NSPCC by taking part in their Number Day .
On 22nd February we will be taking part in ‘Dress up for Digits’ and pupils will be invited to wear an item of clothing with a number on it (football shirt, cap, homemade t-shirt or even a onesie!). We ask for children to make a donation to help raise money for the NSPCC.
Number Day gives the children the opportunity to see that maths is fun and bring about a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude towards it.
The NSPCC believes that all children deserve a childhood free from harm but, sadly, that’s not the case for many children. That’s why the NSPCC is fighting for every childhood and working to help keep children safe from abuse.
The NSPCC needs our support. By raising money, we can help to fund their vital services such as Childline – the helpline that’s always there for children and young people whatever their problem or concern.
We’re looking forward to all the fun of Number Day, and we really appreciate your support. -
Healthy Snacks
Wed 20 Feb 2019Dear parents and carers,
Please can you make sure that the snacks that are sent in for playtime are healthy. Over this week alone, children have brought pizza, muffins, crisps, chocolate and cake. Children are also taking things out of their lunchboxes which is leaving them short at lunchtime.
We recommend as all schools do to send a healthy, nut free snack, ideally a piece of fruit, vegetables or berries.
Reception and Key Stage One children are already provided with a free healthy snack as part of the 'Five a Day' initiative that started back in 2004.
Thank you for your support with this matter

Shine Bright, Wear Bright for CHUMS
Thu 07 Feb 2019Childrens Mental Health Awareness Week 4th – 9th February 2019 Non-Uniform Day
Kingsmoor Lower School is proud to support CHUMS during Children’s Mental Health Week 2018.
Many Children go through tough times just like adults and the smallest act of kindness and learning to be yourself can make a big difference. Please join us in helping to promote positive mental health alongside many local schools across Bedfordshire.
In the week before February half term CHUMS will launch: Shine Bright, Wear Bright. We invite all the students (and teachers!) to wear bright coloured clothes, (this could also include wigs, make-up and glitter!) and donate £1 for a designated dress down day on Thursday 7th February 2019 to promote ‘healthy: inside and out’.
We will also be selling wrist bands with a suggested donation of £2.
CHUMS provides Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Services to over 3,150 children and young people from Luton and Bedfordshire every year. The children we meet need specialist support to help with anxiety, increase self–esteem and build resilience. With your support, our experienced clinicians are able to provide the right support, at the right time, for each individual child - allowing them to go forward and reach their full potential.
- 1 in 10 children have a diagnosable mental health disorder – that’s roughly 3 children in every classroom
- 1 in 5 young adults have a diagnosable mental health disorder
- Half of all mental health problems manifest by the age of 14, with 75% by age 24
- Almost 1 in 4 children and young people show some evidence of mental ill health (including anxiety and depression)
- Suicide is the most common cause of death for boys aged between 5-19 years, and the second most common for girls of this age
- 1 in 12 young people self-harm at some point in their lives, though there is evidence that this could be a lot higher. Girls are more likely to self-harm than boys
