Reception - Hedgehogs

Our visit to Marston Vale Forest Centre

When we went to Marston Vale Forest Centre we had fun doing all these things:

Pond dipping

Mini beast hunting

Nature's palette - a scavenger hunt looking for a variety of colours in nature

Hedgehogs had a SUPER Mess Day as a Fantastic Finish to their Superhero topic this term. They enjoyed bubble painting, finding Superworms (dyed spaghetti!) and bugs in the mud, mashing vegetables from Supertato (including the evil peas!), making bread mixture, exploring frozen jelly, rolling diggers in the mud and then washing them, blowing giant bubbles, making tea and coffee (not drinking it!), investigating mixing colours in cornflour and making our own chalk paint. What a busy, fun and messy day!

We had a visit from Inspector Mike Boyce today. We could dress up as policemen and policewomen and sit in his van!

Hedgehogs had their first Teddy Tennis lesson. It was fun learning the Molly Volly (each tennis skill is linked to one of the Teddy Tennis bears)

Superheroes and Villains - On Monday 7th January Hedgehog Class had a Superheroes and Villains Dressing Up Day to kick-start our topic for this term. There were children (and staff!) dressed as Spidergirl, Darth Vader, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Superman, Cat Boy, Spiderman and many more fantastic characters. We read the book Superhero ABC and used the ideas to design our own superheroes, creating their unique costumes and giving them a superhero name. We also made Superhero slime, had a villainous water tray with red water and bugs in and created superhero hand prints. Hedgehog Class had a SUPER day!

Hedgehogs Class have been having fun making pizza's. We chose our own toppings and then Mrs Smith cooked them in the oven for us. They were delicious!!

These are some of the displays we made for the Showcase afternoon when our families came to look at some of our work. We are very proud of how hard we have worked.

In Hedgehogs Class we have lots of fun every day doing crafts, building models, playing outside and keeping fit with our apparatus.
